In the past 15 years there has been a sea change in marketing. One visit to any martech conference and the previous landscape is hardly recognizable. We have seen the rise of the internet and now mobile devices as chief channels of communication outpacing printed media. 80 cents of every marketing dollar is now spent on direct (i.e. ROI measurable) marketing rather than mass advertising, a complete reversal in the last decade and a half. It is all about measurement and the requirement that those entrusted with marketing budgets be accountable.
In the intervening years I have had the privilege of working with a number of the industry's leading entrepreneurs in packaging and realizing the value they built in doggedly pursuing their dreams.
